About This Project

Discover how we embraced Nordic design principles to create a serene, minimalist coach house that combines style and functionality. This project showcases the essence of Scandinavian influence, focusing on simplicity, natural materials, and bright, open spaces that foster a peaceful, warm ambiance.

Project Overview:

Project Type: Residential Coach House
Style: Modern Nordic / Scandinavian
Completed By: Rechsteiner Design Team

Nordic Style Elements in This Coach House:

  • Natural Materials: In true Nordic style, we used light woods, sustainable materials, and subtle textures. The combination of wood and stone adds warmth and a natural touch that harmonizes with the minimalist design.
  • Color Palette: The color scheme is predominantly neutral, with soft whites, light greys, and gentle earthy tones that enhance the spaciousness and calm atmosphere.
  • Functional Design: Every element of the design is intentional. This coach house maximizes space, using clean lines, minimal décor, and thoughtful storage solutions to create an airy, uncluttered environment.

Key Features:

  1. Open Floor Plan: The Nordic style is all about open, flowing spaces. We removed unnecessary barriers to create a sense of unity between living areas, enhancing natural light flow.
  2. Large Windows for Natural Light: To bring the outdoors in, we installed large windows that allow sunlight to brighten the space throughout the day. This is a hallmark of Nordic design, which seeks to embrace natural light even during darker months.
  3. Sustainable Choices: Prioritizing sustainability, we used eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient lighting, reducing the environmental impact while maintaining high standards of style and comfort.

Design Process:

Our design team began with a comprehensive consultation to understand the client’s vision for a Nordic-inspired coach house. By focusing on key elements like lighting, natural materials, and minimalist aesthetics, we were able to deliver a result that exceeds expectations in both beauty and functionality.

Challenges and Solutions:

Nordic Design Adaptation: Achieving an authentic Nordic aesthetic while adapting to local architecture was a unique challenge. We tailored Scandinavian design elements to suit the structure, ensuring seamless integration.

Space Optimization: Working within the smaller dimensions of a coach house required creative solutions to maximize usability. Custom cabinetry and multi-functional furniture pieces were incorporated to enhance storage without compromising style.
